In the presence of the heads of state, the signed Agreement on Cooperation for the Development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route was exchanged between the governments of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.
The Agreement establishes a framework for developing the Middle Corridor through the coordinated expansion of infrastructure, the elimination of bottlenecks on railways, highways and in ports, and the development of the Caspian fleet and shipping.
A separate focus is on digitalization: the integration of systems, a “single window” mechanism, cargo tracking and the mutual recognition of electronic signatures. Border crossing and customs procedures will also be simplified.
From January to September 2026, freight volumes along the TITR increased by 30%, while transit container traffic along the China–West route rose by 64%.
